"Libertate" is set during the chaotic and panic-filled days of the revolution that took place in Romania in 1989. In the city of Sibiu, during the public's protests against authority, a militia unit becomes the target of a violent attack, and the situation turns into a bloody conflict among soldiers, militias, security agents, and civilians. Militia Captain Viorel, who tries to survive the siege, is captured on charges of being a terrorist. In this chaotic environment, it's almost impossible to understand who is friend and who is enemy.
