Life of Marcielle tells the story of a 13-year-old girl living on Marajó Island, struggling to save herself and her little sister from the dark abyss of her family's silence.


Set in the heart of the Amazon Forest on Marajó Island, this successful coming-of-age film narrates the story of 13-year-old Marcielle who discovers abuse and exploitation in her local community. Marcielle leads a quiet and impoverished life with her family and little sister. However, as she discovers the dark realities beneath the paradisiacal façade of their home, Marcielle embarks on a desperate struggle to survive and protect herself and her sister. While realistically portraying the pains and struggles Marcielle goes through, the film also stands out with its complex characters and compelling story that allow the audience to empathize. The film won the Audience Choice Award at the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival and the Best Film Award in the Giornate degli Autori section in Venice. The film was shot on Marajó Island, the heart of the Amazon Forest.
