Pomegranate
Our film "Pomegranate" deals with the struggle to survive of a young and politically liberal Muslim immigrant from Iraq in a neighborhood inhabited by conservative Christian Iraqis. This young woman, who is our main character, also has to struggle with her family's fear of poverty and demands for loyalty to Muslim traditions. The film skillfully explores various cultural and religious conflicts, and the tension between personal freedom and family ties. Viewers witness a deeply affecting story by closely following the dilemmas of the main character and the attitudes of the surrounding society towards her. The film was generally shot in areas of America with a dense population of Iraqi immigrant communities.
