Wildes Land – Die Rückkehr der Natur
In the 1980s, a young couple, Isabella Tree and Charlie Burrell, inherited the 400-year-old Knepp mansion in the south of England, which was in a rather poor condition. By the end of the 1990s, the couple faced a harsh reality: their farm was not profitable and they were 1.5 million pounds in debt. Their lands were now infertile and biodiversity was rapidly decreasing. Isabella and Charlie decide to fight against traditions and leave the fate of their farm to nature. This marks the beginning of a large-scale rewilding project inspired by European ecologists like Frans Vera.
The film is filled with characters and events that capture the viewer's attention. The determination, courage, and faith in nature of Isabella and Charlie shape the viewer's experiences. While demonstrating the power of nature and people's capacity to live in harmony with it, the film offers a new perspective to viewers.
