Eleven-year-old Joshua defies the rules in an oppressive society and fights for his freedom.


In a utopian society, Aryan-looking children are subject to strict rules and heavy brainwashing. These children, cleansed of their past identities, are trained to speak only in Esperanto in order to be adopted by new families. Eleven-year-old Joshua stands out as a child who challenges these strict norms. His friendship with newcomer Ĉiela stokes the jealousy of group leader Pipro. When it's time for Joshua to be adopted, he refuses to leave Ĉiela. This situation attracts Pipro's wrath and he manipulates the group against them. Joshua and Ĉiela are forced to make a critical decision between submitting to the oppressive society or resisting for their freedom.

The film draws the audience into Joshua and Ĉiela's brave resistance and their fight for freedom based on the experiences of the viewers. The film emphasizes the pressure of a social system on children and their resistance to this pressure.
