A virus turns the whole of England into a post-apocalyptic nightmare.

A group of animal rights activists enter a laboratory where a dangerous experiment is being conducted and release monkeys that scientists are experimenting on with a virus called 'rage', which increases violence and anger in human nature. However, the released monkeys become aggressive and bite one of the activists, so the virus spreads rapidly.

28 days later, a young man named Jim, who is a courier, wakes up from a coma in the hospital and sees that his surroundings have completely changed. People have either been infected with the virus and turned into rage-filled monsters or are nowhere to be found. Jim meets a group consisting of Selina, Hannah and Frank and together they struggle to survive. The film shows the audience the darker aspects of human nature and the horrors that come with the collapse of a society.

The film left a strong impression on its audience and is considered one of the best examples of post-apocalyptic fiction. The scenes depicting London as a dead city are particularly impressive.

The film was shot in various locations across England. One of the most notable locations is London, where the virus spreads and the film's main characters struggle to survive.
