Aftab Mishavad

"The Sun Sets" is a film set in October 2022 in Tehran. A theater company finds themselves in the midst of a major uprising while rehearsing the ancient Greek comedy Lysistrata. In a scene where the Acropolis, seized by the women of Athens, is stormed by old men, the group learns that they are surrounded by an anti-rebel police force marching to suppress a large demonstration. As the noise of the street deafens their ears, the room is filled with fear and anger. Some want to hide, while others - led by the leading actress - want to go out and fight alongside the people. Despite the disagreements, one thing is clear; they do not want to continue the play during a revolution. The film reminds viewers of the power of art and resistance, how strong people can be when united, and that change is inevitable.
