Dounia le grand pays blanc

Dounia and her family escape from Syria and settle in Canada, discovering a new life, culture, and friendships.

Fleeing from Syria, Dounia and her family settle in Canada, a cold but hospitable country. With its new language, unusual foods, and seasons they have never experienced before, Canada becomes their new home. While Dounia's family keeps Syrian traditions alive at home, Dounia explores the French-Canadian lifestyle and the rich folklore of the indigenous people with her new friends Rosalie and Miguizou. Living with the longing of leaving her father in Syria, Dounia finds a way to bring her father to her side through the teaching of Miguizou's grandmother Kukum, who teaches her to call her father with her heart.
