Real Places
"Real Places" is a structural short film that questions the reality we live in under capitalism. Using various images of Paris, Edinburgh and Disneyland, the film draws us a portrait of the world we live in and its capitalist structure. Instead of a specific character in the film, direct images of these three different places and the meanings they symbolize are in the foreground. Paris is presented with its historical and cultural richness; Edinburgh with its natural beauty and the ruins of the old world; and Disneyland as one of the most extreme examples of capitalism. Real Places aims to make its viewers think about the world we live in and how it is shaped under the influence of an economic system. The film offers an experience that viewers generally respond positively to and that makes them question their views, especially about capitalism.
The film was shot in various locations in Paris, Edinburgh and Disneyland.
