The Mongol army had bypassed the high walls of this small city, but the hatred a commander harbored against the city's people forced Kozelsk to fight against the world's most powerful army. The people of Kozelsk resist the Mongol invasion without hope of victory. While some try to escape, some are ready to do anything to survive. However, most are determined to protect the city from the relentless attacks of the Mongol army. This film tells the story of people confronting death.
