The Freedom Within Us – Let's Hurry to Be Human

On September 16, 2022, young Iranian woman Jina Mahsa Amini was arrested by the Iranian morality police for allegedly wearing an improper headscarf and she tragically lost her life in custody just three days later. Amini's sudden death triggered a wave of anger and solidarity worldwide. Even in Germany, Iranian exiles who fled the Iranian regime in the 1970s, along with young second-generation German-Iranians Jasmin Shakeri, Pegah Ferydoni, Natalie Amiri, and Enissa Amani, took to the streets. Together, they are fighting for a free future where the Iranian society can also live fearlessly and honourably. The film was shot in various cities in Germany and the viewers' reactions typically include feelings of anger, sorrow, and solidarity.
