The Life of Marcielle
The Life of Marcielle is a successful coming-of-age film that tells the story of 13-year-old Marcielle who discovers abuse and exploitation in her local community on Marajó Island, in the heart of the Amazon Forests. Marcielle leads a quiet and poor life with her family and younger sister. However, as she discovers the dark truths hidden beneath the seemingly paradise-like appearance of their home, Marcielle embarks on a desperate struggle to survive and protect herself and her sister. The film realistically conveys Marcielle's pains and struggles, while also attracting attention with its complex characters and strong story that allows viewers to empathize. The film won the Audience Choice Award at the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival and the Best Film Award in the Giornate degli Autori section in Venice. The film was shot on Marajó Island, in the heart of the Amazon Forests.
