The Others

The Others, tells the story of the life shaken by the unexpected pregnancy of Rafaela, a free-spirited university student. When Rafaela finds out she is pregnant, her life turns upside down as abortion is not legal in the country she lives in, leading her into a huge dilemma. However, she faces this tough period together with her closest friend, Gabriela. The journey of Rafaela and Gabriela, from their pink, comfortable houses to the harsh and raw backstreets of Santiago, is at the center of The Others, the first film by director Hyland. The film impressively conveys the strong friendship of these two young women and their struggle for survival. The film offers both an emotional journey for its audience and draws attention to the challenges faced in real life.

The film was mostly shot in the backstreets of Santiago and in the pink house of Rafaela and Gabriela.
