The Silent Hour


A deaf police detective must protect a woman who is both a murder witness and deaf herself, from criminals trying to eliminate her.


"The Silent Hour" tells the story of Boston Police Detective Frank Shaw (Joel Kinnaman). Frank loses most of his hearing when he is injured in an explosion during an operation. After his recovery, Frank is assigned by his former partner Doug (Mark Strong) to speak with Ava Lopez, the deaf witness to a murder. However, after questioning Ava, Frank leaves his cell phone at her house. When he returns, he witnesses an assassination attempt on Ava. Now he must protect Ava and get out of the 14-story apartment building with her. The film is filled with a series of twists that surprise the viewers.

The film stands out particularly for its portrayal of deaf characters and the challenges they face. Also, most viewers found the film realistic and exciting.
