Dorothy, a shy teacher living in Harlem, is swept away to the magical land of Oz and begins her quest to return home.


The Wiz tells the story of Dorothy Gale, a shy kindergarten teacher living in Harlem. One day, Dorothy finds herself in the mysterious land of Oz while searching for her dog Toto, who got lost in a snowstorm. On her journey, she encounters a scarecrow who longs to have a brain, a Tin Man without a heart, and a cowardly Lion. This trio helps Dorothy find the Wizard of Oz so she can return home. However, when the wizard turns out to be a charlatan, Dorothy and her friends discover the power within themselves and each of them completes themselves. In this process, we see each character go through a unique transformation. The film is presented to the audience with Sidney Lumet's colorful and musical adaptation.
