"Picturesque" is a film that takes place in two interconnected time periods. Our main characters are Sara, a young woman living in modern times who has always wanted to be a painter, and Vincent, a famous painter who lived in the 19th century and dedicated his life to painting. The film begins with Sara's admiration for Vincent's works and her decision to follow in his footsteps. As she researches Vincent's life and works, Sara's self-confidence increases and she begins to paint her own pictures. Throughout the film, the parallels and differences between Sara and Vincent's lives are displayed. Sara's life is much more comfortable and easy than Vincent's; however, Vincent's passion and determination affect Sara and she begins to carry his traces in her own paintings. The film conveys the message to the viewers that art can establish a connection beyond time and space.
The film generally received positive reactions from the audience. Especially Sara's character development and the depiction of Vincent's works were appreciated by the viewers. The use of color in the film and detailed art works caught the attention of the viewers and made the film even more impressive.
The film was shot in New York for the scenes of modern times, and in the south of France for the scenes of the 19th century.
