One day, the life of Mikhail, a successful lawyer in Moscow, turns upside down. A woman from the past, his first love and the daughter of a Gypsy baron, Diana, enters his life. Diana wants their daughter Yana to be released from prison and in return promises to disappear from his life forever and keep Mikhail's biggest secret. Mikhail is actually acting like someone else. In fact, he is the Gypsy Mihai Demeter, who was deported from the camp 16 years ago and separated from the woman he loves. Mihai returns to the camp where he grew up to save his daughter, whose existence he doesn't know, and to meet himself. Mihai is forced to ask himself the following question - who he really is and where his home is - the camp or Moscow?
Movie viewers are fascinated by Mihai's questions and dramatic transformations about his past, himself and his belonging. Mihai's inner conflict with his own identity and where he belongs leaves a great impact on the audience.
