The Others, focuses on the life of Rafaela, a free-spirited university student whose life is disrupted by an unexpected pregnancy. When Rafaela finds out she is pregnant, her life turns upside down due to the illegality of abortion in her country. However, she faces this difficult process with her best friend, Gabriela. The journey of Rafaela and Gabriela from their pink, comfortable home to the harsh and raw backstreets of Santiago is at the center of The Others, the first film by director Hyland. The film impressively conveys the tight friendship and survival struggle of these two young women. The film offers its audience both an emotional journey and draws attention to the difficulties encountered in real life.

The film was generally shot in the back streets of Santiago and in the pink-colored house of Rafaela and Gabriela.
